Simpel kecil dan murah namun sudah bisa dipakai layaknya komputer umumnya

Sebuah perusahaan non profit dari Inggris, Raspberry Pi Foundation yang didirikan David Braben, pembuat game Rollercoaster Tycoon memang merancang komputer supermurah untuk anak-anak. Harga yang ditargetkan jauh lebih murah ketimbang laptop buatan OLPC (one laptop per child) yang digagas Profesor Negroponte beberapa tahun lalu.

Saat ini memang masih berupa prorotipe. Komputer ini dirancang berukuran kecil sehingga mudah dibawa ke mana-mana. Meski kecil, sudah dilengkapi prosesor ARM11 700 MHz, SDRAM 128 MB, HDMI port, dan USB port. Kartu grafisnya meski kecil mendukung OpenGL ES 2.0 dan resolusi 1080p. Selain itu sudah ada sistem operasi Linux Ubuntu. Untuk menggunakannya,tetap perlu tambahan layar monitor dan keyboard atau mouse.

Usung Teknologi Baru, Sebentar Lagi I-Pod Bisa di Charge dengan Detak Jantung

Sebentar lagi pemilik iPod tidak perlu khawatir kehabisan baterai untuk perangkat kesayangan. Mereka bisa memanfaatkan gerakan tubuh manusia, khususnya jantung. Seperti apa?

Tim dari Georgia Institute of Technolog, Georgia, Amerika Serikat, mengembangkan chip kecil yang mengubah gerakan manusia menjadi daya listrik bagi perangkat teknologi.

Mereka berharap, suatu hari nanti, jantung manusia bisa menjadi kekuatan bagi daya iPod dan ponsel. Penelitian itu dipuji sebagai terobosan mutakhir dan berpotensi ciptakan ribuan aplikasi.

Ilmuwan gunakan kawan nano zinc oxide yang bisa menciptakan daya listrik. Secara teori, pergerakan tubuh, bahkan gerakan jari, dapat menciptakan daya energi. Sejauh ini, tim menggunakan teknologi itu untuk mengirim sinyal radio dan memberi daya ke layar LCD.

"Perkembangan ini menjadi tonggak sejarah terhadap produksi daya elektronik portabel yang bisa diaktifkan via gerakan tubuh tanpa penggunakan baterai," kata peneliti utama, Dr. Zhong Lin Wang. "Nano generator kami siap mengubah kehidupan di masa depan."

Perangkat Dr. Wang ribuan kali lebih kuat dari teknologi gerakan sebelumnya dan dianggap sebagai terobosan pertama yang dikembangkan di luar laboratorium.

Peneliti menggunakan jutaan kawat nano yang 500 kali lebih tipis dari satu helai rambut manusia.

Dalam eksperimen mereka, lima pembangkit daya nano bisa menciptakan kekuatan setara dengan dua baterai AA berkekuatan 3 volt atau 1 ampere mikro. Penemuan itu dipresentasikan di National Meeting & Exposition of the American Chemical Society, California, Amerika Serikat.

Inilah 2 Smartphone Baru dari RIM

Pembuat BlackBerry Research In Motion (RIM) kembali memperkenalkan dua produk terbarunya, yakni 9900 dan 9930. Seperti apa?

 


Di ajang BlackBerry World yang diselenggarakan 2-5 Mei di Orlando, Florida, RIM memamerkan dua smartphone terbarunya tersebut. Smartphone yang masuk jajajaran BlackBerry Bold ini memadukan kemampuan layar sentuh dan keyboard QWERTY.

Selain itu, perangkat baru ini menggunakan sistem operasi (OS) BlackBerry terbaru, yakni BlackBerry 7. Smartphone baru ini juga memiliki teknologi NFC (Near Field Communication) yang berfungsi layaknya dompet elektronik.

Video ini mampu merekam dan memainkan video definisi tinggi dengan resolusi 720p. Smartphone baru ini menggunakan prosesor 1,2 GHz Liquid Graphics serta bisa berjalan di jaringan 4G/HSPA. Namun belum ada tanggal pasti dari RIM kapan smartphone ini dipasarkan.

"Kedua smartphone baru ini akan dipasarkan di seluruh dunia di awal musim panas ini," ungkap RIM pada INILAH.COM.

PlayStation Network coming back online this week. Freebies promised as apology

Almost two weeks ago we reported that the PlayStation Network went offline. This was a reaction by Sony to a hacker breach into the PS3 and PSP's online service, that caused 77 million PSN members' personal data to be compromised.
PlayStation Network's gaming, music and video services will be turned back on worldwide this week. Sony has announced they will take a series of immediate steps to enhance security across the network and will launch a customer appreciation program to thank its customers for their patience and loyalty.
About Sony's "Welcome Back" Appreciation Program:
"While there is no evidence at this time that credit card data was taken, the company is committed to helping its customers protect their personal data and will provide a complimentary offering to assist users in enrolling in identity theft protection services and/or similar programs. The implementation will be at a local level and further details will be made available shortly in each region.
The company will also rollout the PlayStation Network and Qriocity "Welcome Back" program, to be offered worldwide, which will be tailored to specific markets to provide our consumers with a selection of service options and premium content as an expression of the company's appreciation for their patience, support and continued loyalty."
Central components of the "Welcome Back" program will include:

Each territory will be offering selected PlayStation entertainment content for free download. Specific details of this content will be announced in each region soon.

All existing PlayStation Network customers will be provided with 30 days free membership in the PlayStation Plus premium service. Current members of

PlayStation Plus will receive 30 days free service.

Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity subscribers (in countries where the service is available) will receive 30 days free service.

For those of you worried their credit card and other personal info was stolen, Sony today commented about security measures you can take:
"Sony will not contact you in any way, including by email, asking for your credit card number, social security number or other personally identifiable information. If you are asked for this information, you can be confident Sony is not the entity asking. When the PlayStation Network and Qriocity services are fully restored, we strongly recommend that you log on and change your password. Additionally, if you use your PlayStation Network or Qriocity user name or password for other unrelated services or accounts, we strongly recommend that you change them, as well. To protect against possible identity theft or other financial loss, we encourage you to remain vigilant, to review your account statements and to monitor your credit reports.
We continue to work with law enforcement and forensic experts to identify the criminals behind the attack. Once again, we apologize for causing users concern over this matter."
PS: Personal info worries aside, you might be glad to know that your PSN friends list and trophies have been stored and will sync again once PSN comes back online.
